Supervision of the application of the World Bank’s safeguard policies in all of the EMRRP projects and setting up of an organisation capable, in time, of taking charge of the environmental management of projects implemented in the DRC. The EMRRP covers 7 provinces and targets the rehabilitation of essential infrastructure (1500 km of roads, 200 km of track roads, water treatment plants, hydroelectric and thermal power plants), the restoration of basic social services (schools, health centres …), and the revival of plant and animal production. |

The project aims to ensure the compliance of the timber legality assurance system (TLAS) for timber produced in the Republic of Congo with the requirements of the Voluntary Partnership Agreement of the Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT VPA) in order to contribute to the strengthening and improvement of forest governance in favour of sustainable and more transparent management of natural resources in the Republic of Congo. |
